3 Simple Tips for More Secure Office 365 Email
As you all know, there have been quite a few phishing attacks recently targeting Microsoft Office 365 services. Not to worry though, we’ve come up with 3 simple & easy tips that you can take advantage of to make your email worry free again.
So, let’s get right into it and take a look at some simple things that you can do to make your email safer today.
#1 – Multi Factor Authentication
This one alone will save you from a lot of headache and sleepless nights. Multi factor authentication adds a second layer of security to user sigh-ins by requiring the use of more than one verification method. To sign in with multi factor authentication, you’ll be required to use any two or more of the following verification methods:
- A randomly generated pass code
- A phone call
- A smart card (virtual or physical)
- A biometric device
#2 – Customized Login Page
Microsoft allows us to customize the Office 365 login experience by allowing us to add a logo and a custom background image. This way, if someone sends you a phishing email with links leading you to a malicious login page, you’ll know pretty quick that it’s not legit because it doesn’t have your logo or custom background image. This tip helps us to be sure that we are logging into the real Office 365.
#3 – Advanced Threat Protection – Safe Links
We’ve already enabled this one for most of our clients. ATP safe links are essentially a souped-up, cloud-based version of Outlooks junk mail filter. When applied, ATP safe links runs incoming emails through IP and envelope filters, signature-based anti-malware scans, and anti-spam filters. If found to be safe, the message is sent on to the recipient.
Next Steps:
Take action! The best part about these tips is that they are simple, easy & low cost to implement. If you would like assistance with any of this, please let us know. We are happy to help you enable Multi Factor Authentication, customize your login page & apply Advanced Threat Protection today. Please give us a call or send us a message so that we can help you make your email worry free.
