Meet CORY, AN AngelCom Employee

POSITION: SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER

How long have you been with AngelCom and what do you do here?

I have been with AngelCom for 20 years and I provide escalation for other AngelCom techs, work on high-level projects, engineer intranet and infrastructure, programming, scripting, and workflow analysis.

What is your favorite thing about working at AngelCom?

I enjoy the aspect of daily problem solving and making things run more efficiently.

What does a typical day at AngelCom look like in your role?

There’s always a lot of different projects running simultaneously. When I get into the office I start by prioritizing my day, and dealing with high-priority (emergency) issues, and then I create a daily to-do list.

I enjoy sustainable projects. I’m currently growing gourmet mushrooms indoors.

What is one thing you cannot resist?

SUSHI!

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.

I raise honey bees.

What’s your favorite thing about where you live?

It’s quiet and peaceful.

What was the last concert you went to?

The most memorable concert I went to was Nine Inch Nails at the Gorge.

What was the best vacation you ever went on?

Panama City Beach, Florida. The water was clear for snorkeling, the white sandy beaches were warm, and a good contrast to the Washington cold.

Would you rather go snorkeling or skydiving, and why?

Snorkeling is more peaceful.

What do you do in your free time?

Hiking and other projects. My project right now it’s growing Gourmet Mushrooms indoors.

What are your indoor and outdoor hobbies?

Hiking, gardening, sustainable activities like honeybees, chickens, mushrooms etc. Camping hanging out at the campfire with friends.

What are you currently watching on Netflix?

Do people still watch Netflix? I like anything that makes you think… SciFi shows especially.

Do you have a secret talent no one knows about?

My secret talent is that I can wiggle my eyes.
